Student Clothing/Personal Items List

Hygiene Articles:

  • No personal hygiene articles are provided by TSBVI
  • Deodorant
  • 2 Toothbrushes/toothpaste
  • Brush and comb
  • Shampoo and soap
  • Sunscreen
  • Razor (if needed)
  • Hair dryer (if needed)
  • Re-usable water bottle
  • Feminine hygiene products, if necessary
  • Diapers and wipes, if necessary

This list is only a recommendation for the types of clothing needed. Some programs may require special clothing and, if so, you will be notified of that separately. Please label all clothing items with child's name with a laundry marker, because it can be difficult to avoid confusing the clothing of students who are here for such a short time. Clothes should be colorfast and wash and wear. Clothing should not display inappropriate messages or pictures, or be too short or low cut.

  • Jeans and Shorts - Please note: cut-off jeans, short-shorts, and bike shorts may not be worn to class
  • T-shirts and tops; skirts and blouses (as appropriate)
  • Tennis shoes (strongly recommended) and/or other closed toe shoes that are good for walking on and off campus
  • Bathrobe or cover up when coming out of the shower.
  • Shower thongs or slippers
  • Bathing suit
  • Underwear and socks, pajamas and robe
  • Windbreaker or light jacket
  • Raincoat and umbrella
  • Backpack, purse or wallet
  • Sun hat and sunglasses

Please bring any low vision devices your child uses to access information (e.g., magnifiers, glasses, telescopes), clearly marked with the student’s name (well, not the glasses). Any personal items such as radios, clocks, stereos, wallets, etc. may be brought to school, but must be marked or engraved with the student's name. Also, please clearly mark suitcases or trunks on the end with your child's full name. Other personal items, which may reduce periods of homesickness, are strongly recommended.
